What's On My Face: Halloween

Since we will be taking the little guy trick-or-treating tonight, I thought I'd do a fun Halloween look that is wearable all day.

I used MAC Face and Body in N1 all over on top of MAC Natural Radiance primer. Maybelline Age Rewind concealer was used under the eyes. I then used MAC Pro Longwear in Fashion Fix, a dark gray taupe, all over the lid and into the crease. Then I used Estée Lauder Cyper Ruby to darken the outer V. The mascara I used was Lancôme Hypnose Drama. I used a few generous coats. On my lips I wore MAC Lady Bug, a lustre finish red and my fave red lippie! Wearable and Halloween appropriate!

Tarte Carried Away Collector's Set

Tarte is killing it for Holiday this year. Earlier I showed you their smoulderEYES set which was amazing. Now I have the Carried Away Collector's Set.

This is exclusive to Sephora and I believe it's $54. You get a gorgeous travel bag, an Amazonian clay blush, a setting powder, small size Lights Camera Lashes mascara, 8 maracija lipglosses, a brush, and 24 eyeshadows. Not a bad deal at all!

In going to break this down into three posts. This one will have general information and swatches of the blush. I will do a separate one for eyeshadows and one for the glosses.

The blush, Adventurous, is a gorgeous rose color with subtle golden shimmer. It's a really pretty color, but probably dupe able. I don't have a lot of blushes, so I personally don't have anything like it.

The setting powder is colorless, so I'm not including swatches. It's a nice setting powder. Granted, I'm not very oily but it kept any shine at bay.

The brush is very soft and seems well made.

My MAC Eyeshadows: Trax

Trax is an awesome color in theory. In the pan it's a beautiful plum with thick gold shimmer. Unfortunately, the texture is so so dry. It swatches so sheer and applies just as sheer to the eye.

Tarina Tarantino Eyeliners: Puppeteer and Sparkling Ammunition

Tarina Tarantino has some pretty amazing products. Her eyeliners are no exception. They are so creamy, don't tug on application, and have amazing wear.

I have two colors. Puppeteer is a gorgeous bronzey plum.

Sparkling Ammunition is a sparkling olive green.

These are currently on sale at Sephora for $9 (I think). The line won't be carried there much longer, so if you see these snatch them up!

Buxom Lip Creme: White Russian

I have a love/hate relationship with Buxom products. I feel like sometimes their quality just isn't there.

That being said, I love the Lip Creme formula! It has great coverage/payoff. It's slightly tingly and has a minty scent and taste. White Russian is a great nude lip color. As a fair skinned girl, nudes can be an issue sometimes. This doesn't wash me out or make me look corpse like.

Great color, great formula, excellent product!

MAC Fabulousness Eye Palette: Neutral Eyes

I doubt many would argue that MAC has some amazing presentation going on for Holiday this year. Gorgeous, but not exactly practical. My guess is it'll get dirty, quick.

Anyway, my hubby surprised me with the eye palette in Neutral Eyes. It contains 5 shadows; Blonde Mink, Magical Mist, Brun, Enviable, and Smut. Quality wise are these up to MACs permanent line? No, but I've never had an eye palette from them that is. The colors are very pretty, but they are a bit gritty and there is some fallout. Two colors, Brun and Smut, are part of the core collection. They are definitely better in that form.

Overall, it's a decent palette with nice neutral colors. Texture wise it's workable.

MAC Fabulousness Brush Set: Mineralize Brushes

MAC released three brush sets for Holiday 2012. I picked up the Mineralize set which includes four duo fibre brushes in an adorable peach leopard print bag. There are two face brushes (187SE and 130SE) and two eye brushes (282SE and 286SE).

The brushes feel really soft and nice against the skin. I think it's really cute how the bristles are dyed to match the bag they come in! It's a nice little touch. The bag is vinyl, so easy to wipe clean. This little set will be living in my bag now!

MAC Fabulousness Lip Bag: Lavish Coral

MAC released two lip bags for this Holiday season. One was in bright pink shades; the other in peachy-nude shades. As I am trying to only purchase things I know I'll use frequently, I went with the peach shades.

This set is called Lavish Coral, which is a bit misleading. These aren't coral so much as soft peachy nudes. This set comes with a super cute pale pink bag, a full size lipstick, a full size cremesheen gloss, and a mini lip pencil.

Shy Girl is a soft peach Cremesheen lipstick. It did tug a bit on application, but didn't dry my lips and was comfortable to wear.

Kiss Me Softly is a cremesheen gloss with soft shimmer. This is another gorgeous peach.

Boldly Bare is the mini lip pencil. This shade is a bit darker than the other two. It's still peach, but with a touch of redness to it.

This set is $39.50. I think it's a great everyday lip set and the added bag is awesome!

MAC Glamour Daze Swatches

I picked up two items from MAC's Holiday Glamour Daze collection. Overall, the collection doesn't feel very 'Holiday' to me, but it is pretty.

I grabbed an Extra Dimension eyeshadow in Natural Flirt. It's a very light peach/gold. Very pretty for brightening the eye area.

I also got one of the three Fluidlines in Catch My Eye. It's a taupe/pewter with chunky sparkle. It is workable as a liner, but isn't super opaque. I have a feeling this will be best used as a Paint Pot would be.

Tarina Tarantino Wonderful Palette swatches

As you probably know, Tarina Tarantino is being phased out at Sephora. Her products are currently 40% off; great time to grab some as they are excellent!

The Wonderful palette is a gorgeous mix of greens and neutrals. Very soft texture, feels silky, and easy to apply and blend.

I hoard....

Lippies in my purse! Who needs this many in their bag?!?

Tarte Eye Catchers SmoulderEYES Swatches

Just a quick swatch post of the Tarte SmoulderEYES set for Holiday 2012. I swatched everything but the skinny SmoulderEYES pencil since I may be giving that one away.

Swatches are l-r: Champagne, Gunmetal, Gold, Ash Violet, Rainforest Black

These are some really stunning colors and I can't wait to try some different looks with them!

Ulta 20% Off Haul!

I took advantage of my 20% off coupon at Ulta this weekend. I love when I get one of these in the mail. Ulta really has a great points program.

I picked up a Too Faced Glamour to Go palette. I looked at the Holiday one, but decided against it since I have so many neutrals in my collection. The regular one has a few non neutrals while still being wearable. This has 8 shadows, a blush, a bronzer, and a gloss. Nice to throw in your bag since it has a great array of color products.

I also got the Tarte Smoulder Eyes kit for Holiday. I have never used these before, but after seeing swatches knew I needed it ;)! It has some stunning colors.

That's all I grabbed, but I am super happy with my choices.

My MAC Eyeshadows: Sumptuous Olive

The next installment in my MAC eyeshadow series is Sumptuous Olive. This color is one I think everyone should have in their collection.

Sumptuous Olive is a light olive green that looks gold/brown in some lighting. It's great as an all over lid color or to darken the crease. It also looks great in a green/brown smokey eye.

Sumptuous Olive is a great versatile color that is awesome for Fall.

Weekly Question: Do you have a sentimental connection to makeup?

As I was going through my stash the other day, I noticed that I hold on to items that I don't necessarily wear. In particular, I have a Jane Iredale shadow trio and two lip pencils that I've been holding on to. They are the colors I wore for my wedding.

Do you have any makeup items you keep because they are connected to a special event in your life?

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick: Japanese Maple

Japanese Maple is a recently released lipstick at MAC. It was part of the Cremesheen+Pearl collection, but I do believe all the shades were going to be added to the permanent collection.

Japanese Maple is a slightly brown nude. It has a glossy finish, as all the Cremesheen formula lipsticks do. It isn't totally opaque, but can be built up.

As a person who is a little afraid of nude lipsticks, this one isn't scary in the slightest. It doesn't wash me out or make my lips disappear. It has enough brown/red pigment to be flattering.
