MAC Lipglass: C-Thru

C-Thru is a milky beige with shimmer running through it. The shimmer isn't intense, very subtle. I have fairly pigmented lips and this slightly muted the color. I like to apply a thin layer of C-Thru over bright lipsticks to make them a bit more daytime wearable. Applied heavily, this is not the most flattering color on my fair skin.

MAC Eyeshadow: Crystal

Crystal is a silvery blue with a frost finish. This applies very sheer, so if you are looking for intense payoff this wont do it for you. I tend to wear this on days I just want some soft color and intense liner look.

MAC Lady Bug: My Favorite Red Lippie

Lady Bug is a Lustre finish red lipstick. Lustre finishes tend to have a bit of sheerness to them, so this is a very wearable red lip.

Personally, it's my absolute favorite red lipstick because it is so wearable. I feel like its appropriate for day or night and most occasions. The swatch below is two passes, just for reference.

Some people fine Lustres drying, but I like them and haven't found them drying at all.

bareMinerals Ready Duo: The Top Shelf

The Top Shelf is a gorgeous neutral duo. It contains Mixologist, a shimmery champagne and Cognac a shimmery mid tone brown.

These shadows are so buttery and apply like a dream. I have a few of the Ready duos and love them. I haven't found a dud yet ( haven't tried any of the matte formula, it's next on my list).

If I had to find a complaint, the packaging is a black rubberized compact and attracts dirt and smudges like crazy.

These retail for $20 and I feel they ae well worth it!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Too Faced Shadow Insurance is my go to eye primer. I don't have excessively oily lids, but shadow does tend I fade/crease on me quicker than I'd like.

I've tried numerous drug store primers and none of them have worked all that well. Too Faced Shadow Insurance works to keep my shadow in place and keep the color vibrant. I don't see creasing with most shadows during a full day wear.

Out of the tube, this looks a bit yellow but applies colorless.

MAC Lipglass: Lovechild

MAC Lipglass in Lovechild is one of my all time favorite glosses. It's a mauve with fine, golden shimmer. On my lips it definitely takes on more pink tones. It's an incredibly wearable color.

Lipglass is quite sticky, but has good lasting power. I've never had an issue with the formula, but some people don't like the amount of stick it has. It also has the signature vanilla scent of all MAC lip products.

Great Foundation Hunt: Various Brands

I did a post earlier on my search for an HG foundation and the samples I had received at my local MAC. This post is dedicated to some other brands I have tried.

First is NARS Sheer Glow in Ceylon. This is a fairly close color match. I like that this feels lighter on my skin and offers light to medium coverage. It hasn't irritated my skin at all. Still in the running.

Next is Laura Mercier Moisture Supreme foundation in Warm Ivory. This color is a bit too yellow for my skin. It feels nice, but a bit heavy. Not really a contender.

Estée Lauder Double Wear in 2C1. This was so dark on me! Really bad color match and felt like a mask. It also dried my skin out. Not a contender.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Light in Light 1 and Light 2. I was originally matched to Light 2 and it was too dark for me, so I returned for a sample of Light 1. This wore well, felt decent, and didn't irritate my skin. I'm willing to test this one a bit more.
