My MAC Eyeshadows: Vex

Over the next few weeks I will be trying to get pics/swatches and mini reviews of all my MAC shadows.

I'm starting off with one of my absolute favorites, Vex. Vex is a silver duo chrome that flashes green and pink. In some light it almost looks like an antique gold. It is such a complex color and works so great as a wash of color. It really can stand on its own.

Drugstore Gem: Maybelline Age Rewind Concealor

I had read a number of positive reviews about the Age Rewind line and was in the market or a new under eye concealer. I picked up the 'illuminator' and have to say I really like it.

The concealer has a sponge applicator. I find it works well, but it's not the most sanitary option.

It does a nice job concealing and brightening the undereye area. For the price point, it's great and I would definitely recommend it!

MAC Marilyn Dazzleglass: Pfiff!

While I missed out on the Marilyn lipsticks :(, I did grab one of the two Dazzleglasses. I have only had one previously and wasn't a fan, but thought I'd give it another go.

Pfiff! is a mostly clear base with golden shimmer. It doesn't so much add color to the lips as shimmer. It looks nice over darker, matte lipsticks to give them some dimension.

I do like this one better than the one I owned previously, but it's still not my favorite formula.

Buxom Stay There Shadow: Pug

Buxom Stay There Shadows are a really interesting product. They have a semi-wet feel, like a cross between a powder, gel, and cream. They can be applied with a brush or finger (my preferred method) and are marketed as long wearing.

Pug is a really pretty taupe gray with multi colored shimmer. It goes on pretty sheer, but can be built up for more true to 'pan' color.

Sadly, thus creased/faded like crazy on me. It didn't matter if I used it over a primer or on bare lids; nothing worked.
It's really a shame because this is a gorgeous color.

Laura Geller Glow Box

Laura Geller is a brand I have long been interested in, but ha never got around to trying. When I saw Ulta had an exclusive 'Glow Box' for $19.50, it seemed like a good way to try the brand.

Laura Geller is known for their baked products and that's exactly what you get here. It contains a blush in Ethereal Rose and a highlighter. A word of caution...these are shimmery. So, so shimmery. If used lightly, I don't see too much pore emphasis, but you need a light hand.

Overall, it's an inexpensive way to give the brand a try. I'll probably try some other of the brands offerings.

MAC Forever Marilyn Beauty Powder

When I heard MAC was releasing a Marilyn Monroe inspired collection, I could barely contain my excitement. Visions of soft, matte shadows and red lips raced through my brain... Imagine my disappointment when I saw very shimmery shadows. The lip colors are stunning, but I missed out. I so wish MAC would have adequate supply to meet demand...

Anyway, I did get the beauty powder, Forever Marilyn. It's a light peachy pink with very subtle shimmer. (YAY for not emphasizing pores!) It can be a bit chalky if you are heavy handed. So far, I really like this. It's not an everyday product for me, but fun to own!

MAC Office Hours Shadows: Linger Softly and Fashion Fix

MAC released there Office Hours collection a couple weeks ago and I wasn't sure I would pick up anything. Quite a few of the initial reviews I saw were less than favorable...but I have a hard time resisting so I gave the shadows a swatch. I ended up with two: Linger Softly (a blue grey) and Fashion Fix (a taupe).

Linger Softly is really pretty. It has a soft sheen to it and looks lovely as a crease or outer V color.

Fashion Fix is matte and goes on fairly sheer. It can be built up for more opaque coverage.

I do believe these are permanent. These are part of the long wear line and I haven't had issues with wear over a primer.

Swatches below are on bare skin, two swipes of color.
